Eight weeks ago, I acquired The Counterpart with the intentions of relaunching the newsletter and carrying on the original mission.
The idea of delivering politically charged articles that challenge your beliefs felt right – so that’s what I did.
After having the site converted from HTML to WordPress, getting a new logo, working out a few sponsorship deals, and getting to know (some of) you, I’ve made the difficult decision to take The Counterpart in a different direction.
Effective immediately, The Counterpart (as you know it) will cease to exist.
I will no longer distribute the divisive and negative content that seems to dominate our day-to-day news.
“The more things change, the more they stay the same.”
– Jean-Baptiste Alphonse Karr
I still believe it’s important for everyone to break out of their echo-chamber, but ending each week with a handful of articles (from the other side) isn’t the solution.
After a month long deep-dive into the worlds of Liberal and Conservative politics, I’ve decided that I don’t want to be at the forefront of that mission.
My new initiative is to curate and distribute a unified newsletter with the most positive, and uplifting stories from around the web.
These stories may not show up on the front page of Reddit, but they will put our compassion, humanity, and selflessness on full display.
If you’re willing to join me on this new journey, I’ll see you on Friday, September 1st.
